An automatic charge process of NI-CD and NI-MH batteries needs hi-tech electronic devices, due to the unstuble chraging features caused by temperature variations. Different end-charging methods are normally used to stop the charge (thermistors, timers), often with unforeseeable results. Thanks to a special electronic component, a new generation of chargers named "DELTA", has been produced, refering to the adopted end-charge detection. Typical characteristic of NI-CD batteries is to reveal a negative slope of few millivolts when full charge is reached, in quite a wide range of temperatures.
The charging is shown by two LEDS: green LED indicates mains connected while yellow LED is "on" in fast charge and "off" in trickle mode. Fully electronic protection improves safety of these devices at high levels::
- electronic max current limitation;
- continuous output reversal battery protection;
- continuous short-circuit protection.
DELTA chargers are made in conformity with EEC standard specifications.
